SSA developed the original master plan for the Rio Bravo Senior Meal Site in 2018, followed by a concept design for the addition in 2023. In 2026, SSA completed the full design, and construction began on the approximately 3,400sf addition. The expansion includes a flexible multipurpose room with an operable divider wall, allowing art and exercise classes to take place simultaneously or the space to open into one large room for community events. A garden courtyard separates the existing building from the addition, while a hallway doubles as a gallery to showcase artwork created in classes. A new office provides additional space for staff. The addition accommodates the center’s growth, expands opportunities for programming and activities, and supports the needs of the South Valley senior community. Construction is expected to be completed by late Spring 2027.
